What is QuipKey?
QuipKey is a Chinese keyboard for iOS. Alongside the usual input modes — full Pinyin, 9-key and handwriting — it puts a capable conversational assistant inside the keyboard itself, so you can ask it something in any app and drop the answer straight into the field you were typing in.
Can I download it yet?
Not yet. QuipKey is still in development and has not shipped on the App Store. This page is a placeholder — the download link will appear here once it does.
How do I enable the QuipKey keyboard?
Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and pick QuipKey. Then tap QuipKey in that list and turn on Allow Full Access. Full Access is what lets the keyboard reach the network and stay in sync with the main app. Without it the in-keyboard assistant cannot work.
With Full Access on, is everything I type uploaded?
No. Ordinary typing never leaves your device — Pinyin candidates and handwriting recognition run locally with no network access. Only when you deliberately summon the assistant and send it a message does the text of that message go to the inference backend. If you never summon it, nothing leaves the device.
What is an inference backend, and who receives my messages?
It depends which one you pick. With Platform models, your message is relayed through our servers to a model provider. With Anthropic, OpenAI, Doubao or Gemini and your own API key, it goes directly to that provider. With Ollama it goes to your own server and never touches ours. You can switch at any time under Settings → Inference backend.
Why does it ask for Calendar, Reminders and Location?
So the assistant can answer things like "when am I free tomorrow", "remind me to send this at 3pm", or "what's nearby". The three are independent — grant only what you want, and turn any of them off under Capabilities. Turning one off means the assistant can no longer read that information.
Can I use it without an account?
Yes. No account is needed if you bring your own API key or connect your own Ollama server. Signing in is only required for Platform models, because the credit balance is held against your account.
Where are my conversations stored?
On your device, in storage shared between the main app and the keyboard. Settings → Clear all conversations removes every one of them at once. That cannot be undone.
Which iOS versions are supported?
iOS 17 and later.
