Prooflens Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-02-01 · Effective: 2026-02-01

1. About the Service

Prooflens ("Prooflens", "the App") is an iOS forensic-grade camera application developed by SignalRender Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). Prooflens captures photos and creates tamper-evident, cryptographically timestamped proofs using SHA-256 hashing, RFC 3161 Time-Stamp Authorities, and optional Bitcoin blockchain anchoring via OpenTimestamps. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Prooflens.

By installing or using Prooflens, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Prooflens. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must use Prooflens with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Prooflens produces cryptographic existence proofs: a timestamp demonstrates that a specific photo (identified by its SHA-256 hash) existed at or before a specific point in time.

  • A Prooflens proof is technical evidence, not legal advice, and we make no representation or warranty that any proof will be admitted, accepted, or given any particular weight by any court, tribunal, insurer, or authority in any jurisdiction. Evidentiary rules vary and are outside our control.
  • A timestamp attests to existence and integrity over time — it does not verify the authenticity, truthfulness, authorship, or lawfulness of the depicted content.
  • Verification depends on third-party infrastructure (RFC 3161 authorities and the Bitcoin network) remaining available. We do not control and cannot guarantee their continued operation.

4. License to Use

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Prooflens on Apple devices you own or control. You may not:

  • Distribute, sell, resell, rent, sublicense, or commercialize Prooflens or any part of it.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
  • Use Prooflens to violate any law or third-party right.

5. Your Responsibility for Content

You are solely responsible for the photos you capture and how you capture them, including ensuring you have the legal right to photograph the subject and that doing so complies with all applicable privacy, surveillance, trespass, and intellectual-property laws. You must not use Prooflens to capture content unlawfully or to harass, surveil, or infringe the rights of others.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

Prooflens offers paid features through Apple In-App Purchase, which may include one-time purchases and/or auto-renewing subscriptions as presented in the App.

Auto-renewal disclosure: Where a subscription is offered, it automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel any purchase in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device. Uninstalling Prooflens does not cancel an active subscription.

All purchases are processed by Apple and governed by your Apple ID and the Apple Media Services Terms. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy; we cannot issue refunds independently.

7. Public Blockchain Anchoring

If you choose to anchor a proof via OpenTimestamps, its SHA-256 hash is submitted to the public Bitcoin blockchain and becomes permanently and publicly visible. This is irreversible. You are responsible for deciding which proofs to anchor.

8. Intellectual Property

The Prooflens name, logo, UI design, source code, and all related materials are the property of SignalRender Inc. or our licensors, and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our trademarks, brand assets, or proprietary code beyond the limited license in section 4.

9. Service Availability

We will make reasonable efforts to keep Prooflens functional, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time, with or without notice.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Prooflens is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all such warranties, including any warranty that proofs will be accepted as evidence.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall SignalRender Inc., its affiliates, officers, employees, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or evidentiary value, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, Prooflens — regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Termination

You may stop using Prooflens at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use Prooflens unlawfully or harmfully. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.

13. Apple's Standard EULA

To the extent applicable, your use of Prooflens is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement:

If there is any conflict between these Terms and Apple's standard EULA, these Terms control to the extent permitted, except where Apple's terms are required by Apple to govern.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Prooflens shall first be addressed by good-faith negotiation; failing that, it shall be resolved in the courts of Singapore, unless otherwise required by your local mandatory consumer-protection law.
