Our Approach
Rifff is a social service for creating, remixing, and sharing interactive content. Providing that service requires us to process account, content, social, and activity information. We do not sell your personal information or use private messages for advertising.
1. Information We Process
Account and Profile
When you sign in with Apple or another supported sign-in method, we receive the identifier and account details that the provider or you make available, such as an email address or display name. We create a Rifff account and maintain authentication sessions. You may also add a handle, profile name, biography, and avatar.
Content and Social Activity
We process content you create or upload, including captions, creation instructions, interactive content packages, preview images, remixes, and their relationships to source content. We also process likes, comments, follows, searches, feed impressions, and notification state so Rifff can operate its feed, social graph, and recommendations.
Public profile details, published content, comments, likes, follows, and remix relationships may be visible to other users. Do not publish information that you want to keep private.
Messages
Rifff stores the text and metadata of direct messages so they can be delivered to conversation participants. Direct messages are not public, but participants may save or share what they receive.
Voice Creation
If you choose voice creation, Rifff requests microphone and speech-recognition permission. Audio is provided to Apple's speech-recognition frameworks under your device and Apple settings to produce a transcript. Rifff sends the resulting transcript, your creation instructions, and relevant content context to our service and, where needed, model-processing providers to generate or revise content. Do not include sensitive information in a creation request unless you are comfortable with that processing.
Device and Diagnostic Information
We may process network requests, app version, device and operating-system information, IP address, security events, crash diagnostics, and aggregate usage events. We use this information to operate the service, protect accounts, diagnose failures, and improve features. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- authenticate users and maintain accounts;
- publish, deliver, render, and remix content;
- provide profiles, follows, likes, comments, notifications, direct messages, search, and personalized feeds;
- process creation requests and return generated results;
- detect misuse, secure the service, troubleshoot, and measure performance;
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Service Providers
We use infrastructure providers to host APIs, databases, uploaded media, and content packages; Apple for sign-in and speech-recognition capabilities; and model-processing providers for creation requests. These providers process information on our behalf or under their own applicable terms and privacy policies, only as needed to provide their services.
Data may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
4. Retention and Deletion
We retain account and service data while your account is active and as needed to provide Rifff. You may delete content you published through available App controls. You may request account deletion through the in-app feedback entry or [email protected].
When an account deletion is completed, we revoke active sessions, remove or de-identify account details, and delete profile, relationship, viewing, notification, and direct-message data associated with the account. Published content and uploaded media are removed from active display; some content data and limited technical references may remain where necessary to preserve remix-tree integrity, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or maintain security. Backup copies expire through our normal backup cycle.
5. Your Choices
You can edit supported profile fields, delete your own published content, sign out, and revoke microphone or speech-recognition access in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information. Contact us to exercise a right that is not available directly in the App.
6. Children
Rifff is not intended for children under 13, or under the higher minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child below the applicable minimum age. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account contrary to this rule.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including authenticated requests, tenant isolation, and protected credential storage. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device and sign-in credentials and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as Rifff evolves. The date above identifies the latest version. We will provide additional notice where required for a material change.
