Selene Privacy Policy

Overview

Selene is a local-first moon-tracking app. Your saved locations, interest preferences, and onboarding choices stay on your device. Selene has no account system — moon-phase and position calculations run entirely on-device, never uploaded to our servers. The only data that leaves your device is what you actively send us via in-app feedback, plus standard anonymous diagnostics.

Selene does not require an account and does not collect your name, contacts, or browsing history.

2. Location Access

Selene uses your location (when in use) to calculate tonight's moon phase, rise/set times, and whether the moon is currently visible from where you are. Location is read on-device to drive these calculations and is not uploaded to our servers as a persistent record of your movements. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings — Selene will fall back to a manually-set location or a general estimate.

3. Camera Access

Selene uses your camera for the AR sky view: pointing your phone at the sky overlays exactly where the moon is right now. Camera frames are processed on-device to render the overlay and are never recorded, stored, or uploaded.

4. On-Device Astronomical Calculation

Moon phase, position, illumination, and rise/set estimates are computed entirely on-device using standard astronomical formulas. No astronomical query is ever sent to our servers or any third party. When weather-based visibility data is unavailable for your location or date, Selene tells you plainly ("astronomy only, no weather source") rather than presenting a fabricated forecast.

5. Third-Party Services

Selene embeds no third-party advertising or social tracking SDKs. Purchases are handled by Apple In-App Purchase, and subscription status is provided by Apple. Anonymous diagnostics may be processed by analytics infrastructure operated by SignalRender Inc. Pro's weather-aware alerts, where enabled, rely on a third-party weather data provider to determine cloud cover for your saved locations.

6. Subscriptions

Selene Pro (monthly or annual auto-renewing subscriptions, or a one-time lifetime purchase) is billed through your Apple ID via In-App Purchase. We do not receive or store your payment card details — all billing is handled by Apple.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Preferences and saved locations: stored locally; removed the moment you tap Delete everything in Settings, or when you uninstall the app.
Feedback: retained only as long as needed to handle your request.
Diagnostics: retained in aggregated, anonymous form.

8. Your Rights

Selene is local-first and account-free, so you stay in control of your data: Settings includes a one-tap Delete everything that instantly and permanently erases all on-device Selene data, no confirmation email or support ticket required.
