Overview
Sleeve is a player, not a data business. It reads music files you already own, from sources you connect. There is no account system. Your play counts, recently played, ratings, playlists, and library index stay on your device. Sleeve contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs — not as a setting you can switch off, but as a property of the product. Every claim on this page is verifiable: you can see it in Settings, and you can see it on the wire.
1. Data We Handle
| Data | Where it lives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Your audio files | Stay at their source; read in place | Playback. Sleeve never copies, moves, or uploads them |
| Library index (titles, artists, albums, paths) | On your device only | Browse, search, and organize your library |
| Play counts, recently played, playback position | On your device only | Resume where you left off; sort by what you actually listen to |
| Source credentials (where a source needs them) | iOS Keychain, on device | Reconnect to the source you added |
| Song title / artist / duration | Sent to a lyrics or metadata provider only when you ask | Find lyrics or artwork for a track |
| Feedback (message, optional email) | Sent to us when you submit feedback | Reply and improve the app |
| Crash reports | Off by default; opt-in only | Stability |
| Purchase status | Apple / on-device | Unlock Pro |
Sleeve does not collect your name, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifier, and does not build a profile of your listening.
2. Your Files Never Leave Your Control
Sleeve reads audio in place. Connecting a source grants Sleeve read access to a folder you choose; audio moves only between that source and your device, for the purpose of playing it. Sleeve does not upload your files, does not mirror your library to a server, and does not scan your library for any purpose other than building the index shown to you in the app.
3. No Advertising or Tracking SDKs
Sleeve embeds no third-party advertising, attribution, or social tracking SDKs. This is a design premise rather than a preference: the code contains no analytics collector, so there is no product-usage telemetry to disable. We accept that this leaves us without usage metrics.
4. What Requires the Network
Three things, all optional and each independently switchable in Settings:
- Lyrics matching — sends the track's title, artist, and duration to a lyrics provider. No identifier of you or your device is attached.
- Artwork and track information — same shape as above, and can be turned off completely.
- Crash reports — off by default. When enabled, a report contains a stack trace and device model. It never contains your library contents, file names, or file paths.
With all three off, Sleeve remains fully usable; it simply stops filling in lyrics and artwork for you.
5. No Account
Sleeve has no sign-up, no login, and no user table. Pro is a one-time purchase validated against your Apple ID by Apple; we never see your Apple ID.
6. Third-Party Services
Purchases are handled by Apple In-App Purchase. Lyrics and metadata lookups, when you enable them, are served by third-party community databases. We do not share anything with them beyond the track fields listed in Section 4.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Library index, play counts, and playlists: stored locally; removed when you delete the source, clear the library in Settings, or uninstall the app.
- Your audio files: never ours to retain — they stay at their source and are untouched by uninstalling Sleeve.
- Feedback: retained only as long as needed to handle your request.
8. Your Rights
Sleeve is local-first and account-free, so you stay in control. Removing a source removes its tracks from the index immediately. Uninstalling the app removes everything Sleeve stored, and leaves your music exactly where it was. Revoke a source's file access at any time in iOS Settings.
9. Children's Privacy
Sleeve is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Security
Your library index and preferences are protected by the iOS app sandbox and device-level encryption. Source credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. Any data sent for feedback or optional lookups travels over encrypted connections.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision; material changes will be announced via in-app notice.
