At a Glance
Tempobook is a metronome with a practice book, a tuner and simple recording, made by SignalRender Inc. There is no account and no ads, and nothing is used to track you. Your practice book, settings and recordings are stored on this device. The microphone is used only for the tuner and for recordings, and the sound is processed on your device. To keep the app working well, Tempobook sends us anonymous diagnostics and usage data that is not linked to you (see section 8). Its App Store privacy label lists Diagnostics and Usage Data as data not linked to you.
1. What Stays on Your Device
Tempobook creates the following and keeps it on your device only, inside its own app storage. It is not uploaded to us:
- Your practice book: the pieces you add and anything you write about them, their starting and goal tempos, the tempo each piece has reached, your practice history and your calendar.
- Your recordings: the takes you record. The free version keeps your latest take; with Tempobook Pro, it also keeps your archive.
- Settings: tempo, time signature, sounds and similar preferences.
- Purchase status: whether Tempobook Pro is unlocked, as confirmed by Apple.
2. The Microphone
- The microphone is used only by the tuner and when you record a take. Tempobook asks for permission the first time you use either one. The metronome and the drone never need it.
- Tuner: Tempobook analyzes the sound in real time, on your device, to find the pitch. It does not save or send any audio.
- Recordings: saved on this device. Tempobook never uploads them and we never receive them. You can delete a recording in the app at any time.
- You can turn microphone access off at any time in iOS Settings → Tempobook. Everything that doesn't need the microphone keeps working.
3. Lock Screen and Live Activity
While the metronome plays, Tempobook can show the current tempo on your Lock Screen through a Live Activity. That information is produced on your device by Tempobook and iOS and is not sent to us.
4. Backups
Like other apps' data, Tempobook's files are included in your device's own backup when you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer. That backup belongs to you and Apple, is covered by Apple's privacy policy, and we cannot access it. Tempobook itself does not sync or upload your practice book or recordings.
5. Sharing
When you choose to share something from Tempobook, it opens the iOS share sheet. You decide what to share and with whom; we don't receive a copy.
6. Purchases
Tempobook Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment details. Tempobook confirms your purchase with Apple's StoreKit through your Apple ID. Family Sharing and Ask to Buy are handled by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles payment information.
7. Contacting Us
Tempobook has no feedback form. If you email us, we receive what you send: your message, your email address and anything you attach. Contact us in Settings opens your mail app with the app's name and version in the subject line, which you can change before sending. We use your email only to answer you and to fix problems, keep it only as long as needed to handle your request, and never use it for advertising.
8. Diagnostics and Usage Data
To find and fix problems and to understand which parts of the app are used, Tempobook sends us:
- Crash reports: what the app was doing when it crashed.
- Performance data: measurements such as launch time and moments when the app stopped responding.
- Product interaction: which screens and features are used, for example that the metronome was started or a tempo ladder moved up.
This data comes with a random identifier that Tempobook creates on your device, together with the device model, iOS version, app version and language. It is not linked to your identity: there is no account, and the identifier is not connected to your name, email address, Apple ID or advertising identifier. It does not include your piece titles, notes, recordings or anything you hear through the microphone. We use it only to keep Tempobook working and to improve it; we never use it for advertising, never combine it with data from other companies to track you, and never sell it.
If you have also chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. Apple does not include anything that identifies you.
9. What We Don't Do
- No account or sign-in: we never ask for your name, email address or phone number to use Tempobook.
- No ads and no advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No access to your contacts, photos, location or calendar.
- No profiles, no selling of data, no sharing with data brokers.
10. Children
Many of the people who use Tempobook are children learning an instrument, and we designed it with them in mind. It has no account, no ads and no social features, and the diagnostics and usage data in section 8 are anonymous and used only to run and improve the app, never for advertising or profiling. The only web pages it opens are our terms, this privacy policy and a page listing our other apps. Purchases go through Apple, where Ask to Buy lets a parent approve them. If a child emails us, we use their message and email address only to reply and then delete them; a parent can ask us to delete them at any time.
11. Your Choices
Because your data stays on your device, you control it: delete pieces or recordings in the app, or uninstall Tempobook to remove everything it stored. We keep no copy on a server, which also means we cannot recover it for you. For anything you sent us by email, write to [email protected] to see or delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
