Court-Admissible Photo Evidence | Prooflens
Frequently asked questions
- What does Prooflens export as evidence?
- A .zip plus a PDF legal statement, available in Pro. The PDF documents the evidence and its anchoring status.
- What does the evidence library show?
- Each entry with its on-chain anchoring status, so you can see at a glance which items are anchored and which are not yet.
- Does Prooflens replace legal advice?
- No. What it produces is evidence that a file has not changed since capture, together with a document describing it. Whether that satisfies a given court or counterparty is a legal question.
The short answer
Evidence only counts if the person receiving it can check it. That means handing over something self-contained: the image, the proof that it has not changed, and a document explaining both.
Prooflens Pro exports a .zip together with a PDF legal statement. The PDF documents the evidence and its anchoring status, so the recipient reads a description rather than having to reverse-engineer a hash.
The evidence library
The library keeps each capture with its on-chain anchoring status, so you can see at a glance which items are anchored and which are still pending. That distinction matters: a capture with a local hash is already tamper-evident, but it does not yet have the third-party timestamp and blockchain anchor that make it verifiable by someone who does not have your device.
What this does and does not establish
Being exact about the boundary matters, because the claim is often overstated in both directions:
- What it establishes: the file has not been altered since it was captured, with a timestamp vouched for by a third party and anchored in a public blockchain.
- What it does not establish: what the photo depicts, or whether the situation it shows was lawful. It is evidence about a file, not about a fact in the world.
Whether a given piece of evidence satisfies a particular court, insurer or counterparty is a legal question that Prooflens does not answer — it produces the evidence and the description, and lets that question be asked honestly.
