Wick Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-13 · Effective: 2026-07-13

At a Glance

Wick is a candlelight focus timer with an optional Screen Time app-guard. It is built local-first and privacy-first. Wick requires no account, collects no personally identifiable information (PII), shows no third-party ads, and does not sell or share your data. Your intentions, focus history, and settings live only on your device. The optional app-guard runs entirely through Apple's on-device Screen Time framework. Wick does not access your photos, contacts, location, or microphone.

1. What We Collect — and Where It Lives

1.1 Stored Locally on Your Device

The following is created and stored on your device only (inside Wick's iOS app sandbox) and is not uploaded to our servers:

  • Your intentions: the tasks and intentions you write down.
  • Focus history: completed and interrupted focus sessions, focused time, moods, streaks, and your almanac.
  • App preferences: rhythm, duration, ambient sound, candle skin, theme, and similar settings.
  • App-guard configuration: which apps you choose to guard and your guard-strength setting.

1.2 The App-Guard — On-Device via Apple's Screen Time

Wick's optional Shield uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework to keep distracting apps out of reach while a focus session is running.

  • It runs entirely on your device, enforced by iOS itself.
  • Beyond enforcing the rule you set, Wick does not see or record which specific apps you selected — those selections are managed privately by iOS.
  • Guarding only ever happens during a session and lifts automatically when the session ends.

You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time.

1.3 No Accounts, No Logins

Wick does not require an account to use any feature. There is no email, phone number, real name, or other PII collected at sign-in — because there is no sign-in.

1.4 Anonymous Analytics & Crash Reports

Wick may collect anonymous, aggregate app-usage events (for example, "a focus session was started") and crash reports to improve stability and the experience. These never include your intentions, the content of your focus sessions, or any PII. Wick also reads Apple's privacy-preserving App Store install attribution (campaign-level only, provided by Apple's AdServices — no user identifier).

1.5 What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not access your photos, contacts, calendar, location, or microphone.
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and Wick shows no ads.
  • We do not build advertising profiles or sell data to data brokers.

2. Third-Party SDKs

Wick does not embed third-party advertising, marketing, social, or tracking SDKs. The only platform frameworks involved are Apple's own (Screen Time, notifications, StoreKit, and App Store attribution), governed by Apple's privacy policies and operating within your device and Apple account.

3. In-App Purchases

Wick Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment details; purchase validation is handled through your Apple ID and Apple's StoreKit. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles payment information.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

Because your data lives on your device, uninstalling Wick removes it. You can also delete individual intentions and focus records inside the app at any time. We do not retain copies on a server, because your focus data never reaches one.

5. Children's Privacy

Wick is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
