Save a Moment as a Film or a Live Photo | Encore
Frequently asked questions
- Can I keep a frame as a Live Photo?
- Yes. Swipe up during playback and the frame you are looking at is kept as a Live Photo, with the slow push that is already inside the piece.
- What can I change before keeping a piece?
- Three things: the rhythm, which frames stay, and their order. That is the whole editor, on purpose.
- Is keeping a piece free?
- No. Encore Pro covers taking something out of the app — saving a piece as a film, or keeping a frame as a Live Photo.
- Does keeping a piece require an account?
- No. There is no account and no upload; saving happens from the app.
The short answer
Most apps of this kind let you watch a generated memory and nothing else. Encore's point is that watching is not the goal — keeping the one frame you actually wanted is.
Two ways to keep something
Save a piece as a film to send — the whole cut, ready to share.
Swipe up during playback to keep the frame you are looking at as a Live Photo, with the slow push that is already inside the piece.
The second is the one that matters. A generated slideshow has many frames; it has exactly one that you will still care about in a year, and being able to take that one — in motion, not as a screenshot — is the difference between keeping a memory and keeping a picture.
The editor, and its deliberate size
Before keeping a piece, three things can change:
- the rhythm
- which frames stay
- their order
That is the whole editor, on purpose. An app that assembles your memories could easily become an app that demands you become its editor, and that trade is not worth it: the value is in the assembly, and the friction belongs after you have decided something is worth keeping.
Encore Pro covers taking something out of the app — there is no account and no upload involved in keeping a piece.
