Read a Skincare Label Without a Barcode | CosmeticLens
Frequently asked questions
- Can I scan a skincare label without a barcode?
- Yes. Point your camera at any ingredient list — there is no barcode and no product database involved.
- Does it work on imported or niche products?
- Yes. Imported, sample-size, niche and counter-exclusive products all work, because it reads the label rather than looking the product up.
- Are results in my own language?
- Multilingual labels are supported — ingredient lists in many languages can be read.
- Where does my profile go?
- Your sensitivity profile stays on your device. No ads and no data selling.
The short answer
Ever turned a product over and stared at a wall of Latin ingredient names?
CosmeticLens uses your camera and on-device AI vision to read any cosmetic ingredient list (INCI) — and surfaces the ones that matter to you, in seconds.
Why there is no barcode
This is the design decision that separates it from every other ingredient scanner.
Reading a label works on anything: imported, sample-size, niche, counter-exclusive. Looking up a product in a database works on whatever happens to be in that database.
Since most interesting skincare is precisely what is not in a consumer product database, the difference is not a feature gap — it is what makes the category useful.
Read the label in front of you
Ingredients stream in card by card, each with a risk level and its position — and earlier in the list usually means higher concentration.
